The Human Knows Where It Is

An object is what it is because it is. The human understands what an object is by knowing what it isn’t. By relating what an object is to what it isn’t, the human creates a relation between these two, which is called meaning. In the event that a human encounters an object but has no concept of what it is not, no meaning can be created, and so the object just is what it is. Through learning, the human can create a nothingness which is what the object is not, and thereby create meaning through the relationship of what this object is to what it is not.

The human can also encounter itself, and in doing so it is encountered by itself. By comparing what it is to what it is not, or by comparing what it is not to what it is, the human acquires the meaning of itself. Since what it is is defined by what it is not, and its understanding of what it is not is part of what it is, the human cannot be without the what-it-is and the what-it-is-not. By applying the what-it-is-not within the what-it-is toward the world which is what it is- and the concept of what it is not within it, the human applies its meaning to the meaning of the world, which is called action.

Since what the human is is defined by what it is not, and what it is not is within what it is, and neither what it is or what it is not is dependent on the world (which is what it is), the human acquires a separation from the world which is called freedom.

Since the human is what it is not, and is not what it is – it understands that what it is not is being what it is. The human is never what it is, as being what it is is not being what it is not. Since it is what it is not, and what it is not is being only what it is, the human acquires a permanent nothingness called suffering.
