God is Called a Rock

5/19/2025

God is called “a rock”. Why is his name not “Rock”? Or “The Rock.”?

I kicked a rock into a gutter the other day. Is my God not like a rock?

God is called a shield – “The Shield of David”.

He is shield, we should call him “Shield” and not God.

He is flat, probably made of metal, and arrows bounce off of Him when we throw arrows at him.

God is also called Wisdom, Power, Glory. He is called Good.

We may believe that we understand God because we understand such words, in the way that we understand the words “rock” and “shield”.
